The Website of the American Chemical Society: Educators & Students Section .
(Submitted by

on

-
This is a special portal on the American Chemical Society's official website for educators and students at all levels (divided into sections K-8, high school, undergraduate and graduate). The purpose is to provide educational resources, chemistry programs, and scholarship information for teachers and students.
I've used it quite a bit when teaching college chemistry and Upward Bound high school science programs. I consider it a web-based extension of the American Chemical Society's ongoing educational outreach to teachers and students.
The content is well-organized and accessible. It includes sections such as current events news articles, links to other ACS science/chemical education sites and professional journals, teacher professional development opportunities, and National Science Foundation curriculum standards.
Examples of resources for high school students include a "Virtual Chemistry Club," an "Ask a Chemist" feature that fields students' questions, extension activities and informational links for the high school publication ChemMatters, information on and applications for ProjectSEED (program for summer employment in research labs for economically disadvantaged high school students)and other activities. There is no charge to access this site.
