Lesson Title: "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" Day 1
Objectives:
Students will learn how similies, metaphors, and personification enhances the readers' understanding of poetry using "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" as an example.
TEKS
      No standards added.
Materials:
"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" poem and worksheet Study Sheet-Similies, Metaphors, and Personification Computers
Motivation:
poems, personal experience, creative expression.
Teaching Procedure
Bellwork:
Journal Entry- Briefly describe a time in your life when you were happiest. Now, briefly describe a time when you were saddest. These times can be a result of a location, activity, or the company you keep.
Anticipatory Set:
Tell students that they will be learning about literary terms and how they will be able to encorporate them in their discussion of poetry.
The Lesson:
1. Students will be divided into groups and assigned a computer after the teacher hands out papers and explains the activity.
Guided Practice
2. Groups will find examples of each term and write them down.
Independent Practice with Active Participation
3. Students will share their discoveries with the class.

4. Students will be read "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by the teacher

5. Students will fill out the "Cloud" metaphors, similies and personification worksheet
Closure (Student-centered):
Class will rejoin as a whole and discuss what they have learned today and how it helped them. Discuss how today's lesson will build on tomorrow's.
